I think the only reason she's not is because of consistency. The other Senshi are female. (Kamen's not considered a Senshi, I suppose.) And even the Starlights wind up being female when they transform.
I suppose the other reason could be that there's nothing wrong with having a little controversy. It's nice to see a female character with some masculine traits instead of being so purely feminine.
i'm not a homophobic, coz i think that's just wrong. They're ok together. I watched a few clips of when the sailor scouts die, and i was curious when it showed neptune and uranus dying. they were all like, NO, I WON'T LET YOU DIE! and then uranus had a flashback and they were touching hands and i was like huh??????. i looked it up and found out they were "out- lesbians". what does that mean? i don't mind them being lezzies. it would be okay to draw a lesbian couple sometime.... it would be easier for me 'coz they're both girls. ( is suck at guys. i can only get their buff hair correct, the rest is sh*t)
I actually have never heard the term 'out-lesbians', but given the root meaning of the prefix, it may mean that Michiru and Haruka are open with their relationship, rather than being like so many homosexual relationships that are behind closed doors due to the world's discrimination.
I, personally, have not seen a lot of lesbian art or lesbian pairings that are tastefully done. I may not be a fan of male x male pairings that much, but where they are supported, as far as canonical or lore-wise, they're supported. Of course, it's where you find the potential as well.
Like all things, drawing a variety of creatures, be it animals or humanoids in nature, it's an idea of practice makes 'erfect', except we all have our different definitions of what is and is not perfect. Really, the more you draw men, or anything for that matter, the better you'll get.
it bugs me that sailor uranus is gay. NOT BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE GAYS AND LESBIANS ...because my friends and i are planning to cosplay as sailor scouts for an anime con and i don't want people to think i'm a lesbian because she's the only one i could potentially cosplay as (my hair is like hers and i absolutely detest wigs lol)...
Since you refer to them as "scouts" instead of "senshi", you are more familiar with the dub? Either that or a dubbie turned subbie, like me. I think you should go regardless of what people think. Most of those people you probably don't know and if someone asks you, say no. I don't understand why some people think that just because someone cosplays as a certain character that may be different makes them the same way, it's kind of a stereotype to cosplayers if you ask me. Here's an idea, but if you are going as her in her senshi form, it would not work. If you went as her in her civilian form, you could use her english name. However, people who are hard core fans of the sub sometimes treat people who call them "scouts" or by their american names like idiots. Maybe they think that if you are promoting the english version, you have a problem with the original version. So my other advice is to not look like you dislike the sub or are bashing on Haruka. Also, the most simple fix would to not hang around your friend who is Neptune. If you have any guy friends who like anime, try to take them with you. If the event has already happend, I hope this advice helped anyone else who may have similar problems. Sadly, I have never had the privilidge to go to a convention....
America likes to change things with translation since they made Sailor Moon a show for seven-year-olds and younger. In actuality, America's issues with homosexual relationships and anything that might possibly influence thre future generation is censored.
In Japan, the people and culture are much more open. Therefore, there is less censorship.
Sailor Uranus (Tenou Haruka) and Sailor Nepture (Kaiou Michiru) are indeed lovers.
